The Summer ain’t over yet Los Angeles! August is chock full of must-see live music so clear your calendar now. There are plenty of great under-the-stars shows to enjoy at first-rate outdoor venues such as The Hollywood Bowl and The Greek Theatre including Ryan Adams & The Shining, Sufjan Stevens, Alabama Shakes, and Rodrigo y Gabriela. Summer festivals are also delivering on the musical goods including Berserktown 3, an annual underground hardcore/punk/thrash rebellion and Echo Park Rising, an upbeat local, family friendly, and largely female-fronted band driven event. August is also the perfect time to catch rare, throwback performances by recently reunited groups and returning artists such as PJ HarveyBelly, Guided By Voices and Digable Planets. Beat the heat with cool concerts!

August 4 — Radiohead at The Shrine Auditorium
As Grimy Goods writer Steven Ward so eloquently described Radiohead’s new (and ninth!) studio album, “Even at its most minimal of arrangements, A Moon Shaped Pool retains a complex, almost troubling, intimacy at the cellular level that shines through its loudly arresting orchestral barrages; while Yorke’s vocal utterances, as breathlessly despondent and hysterical as ever, remain the most critical in Radiohead’s instrumental arsenal.” Now how could fans not want to hear and experience that live? Check out one or both of their upcoming Los Angeles shows on August 4 and 8.
