La Sera

Los Angeles’ La Sera, the project of Katy Goodman and Todd Wisenbaker showcased their latest release Music For Listening To Music To (produced by Ryan Adams) at the intimate Bootleg Theatre. The new sounds incorporate the same surf pop elements from the older material with some folk infused sound. Goodman and husband Wisenbaker share the guitar and vocal talents and showed an undeniable chemistry and charm on stage. The set mostly consisted of newer tracks such as “High Notes” where we heard the Adams-influenced sound, powered by rich guitar lines, solid lyrics and an all around simpler, yet powerful sound.

Seeing La Sera live this time around was a more interesting experience now that they’ve strayed away from their signature punk vibes. While we love the old La Sera style, we’re also diggin’ this refreshing new move.

Music For Listening To Music To is La Sera’s first live-recorded analog album. The work features 10 tunes about “good love, bad love, dead men, and confused kids.” Grab the goods here.
