Some people say they’re overrated, some people say they’re red hot! Austin/Brooklyn’s rapidly rising electro outfit, Neon Indian, played their first show of their first headlining tour this past Friday, Nov. 20 at the Echoplex. The venue had a great turn out, which I think was also in part to Tigercity. Unfortunatley, we came a lil too late and missed Tigercity. Super bummed, but I heard they were FANTASTIC!

Also opening up before Neon Indian was some electro duo called Keenhouse. Meh … I wasn’t too into them. They’re beats were very generic and for some, came of as “the soundtrack to a very bad 80’s movie.

No onto the main event, Neon Indian! Although I’m a huge fan of their debut album “Psychic Chasms” and totally enjoyed their stellar performance at the KIA Soul Collective, this show wasn’t quite up to par. I’m not sure if it was the annoying teeny boppers int he crowd, the many technical difficulties or the annoying amateur photog getting in the band’s face, barely a foot apart (with a point-and-shoot) while they were performing, but this show really annoyed me.

Still a fan, nonetheless.
