5 Things We LOVE About Arroyo Seco Weekend 2018

Arroyo Seco Weekend returns to Pasadena for its sophomore year with an even better lineup! Taking place June 23 & 24 at Brookside at the Rose Bowl, the 2018 Arroyo Seco Weekend will feature headliners: Neil Young, Jack White, Alanis Morrissette, Kings of Leon, Jack White, and Robert Plant and The Sensational Space Shifters.

1. Lineup! Lineup! Lineup!

With three stages of live music, also on the Arroyo Seco Weekend 2018 bill are some Grimy Goods favorites: Gary Clark Jr., Kamasi Washington, The Specials, Los Lobos, and Margaret Glaspy. Throwback acts like the Pretenders and The Bangles will also be taking the stage, and the awesome Jeff Goldblum and the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra will be making a return to Arroyo. If you didn’t attend Arroyo Seco Weekend last year, you better make a point of it this year. It’s seriously a good time.

2. Delicious LA Eats

In addition to a glowing lineup, suitable for all ages, Arroyo Seco Weekend will also host some tasty curated menus, food and wine from LA’s favorite chefs and must-eat restaurants including Bourbon Steak, La Esquina, Playa Provisions, Block Party, Sage Plant Based Bistro and a lot more.

3. Spawn-Friendly

If there’s any music festival to take your kids to, it’s Arroyo Seco Weekend. I’m especially excited to attend Arroyo Seco Weekend once again, because I’ll be bringing my daughter with me. Last year my husband and I attended Arroyo Seco Weekend while I was 8 months pregnant (see photo below). Let’s just put it this way, I almost went into labor the next morning. That’s how good of a time we had walking around the lush Brookside at Rose Bowl, and hearing so many great bands (and eating so much good food). Needless to say, I safely had Victoria a couple weeks later. So yeah, Baby Bowie is coming to Arroyo Seco Weekend this year! And we couldn’t be any more thrilled!

Plus! There’s a Kidspace Children’s Museum, Little Libraries and local art to be enjoyed. Children 10 and under are free with a ticketed adult.

4. Shade … The Good Kind!

Unlike most summer music festivals in Southern California, at Arroyo Seco Weekend, there’s actually some shelter from the sun. I’m talking about plenty of shade. Whether you’re cooling off under the shady oaks within the parkland of Brookside, or housing up in a tent — you won’t be constantly melting your face off. And there’s plenty of grass as opposed to dirt and dust that tend to infiltrate those bronchioles giving you that awful festival cough.

5. Plenty of Seating

There’s a ton of seating at Arroyo Seco Weekend, and I’m not talking about the assigned seat kind. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket and grab some green real estate, you can sit and enjoy the music. In order to get maximum enjoyment out of your cozy comfort, be sure to keep that blanket at  70×80 inches, and make sure your lawn chair is a low back chair. Do not camp out in front of the stages. That’s not allowed, so don’t be that dude.
