Death Valley is the driest, hottest place in North America; the Los Angeles quartet that uses this landmark as its moniker adds garage rock grooves to soften their similarly badass intensity. A certified Grimy Goods favorite, Death Valley Girls have returned with a new single, “Dream Cleaver,” the first since the release of their album Darkness Rains last October. The band has just embarked on a lengthy fall tour, which will wind around the U.S. eventually returning to southern California at the end of October, with a finale planned right here at home at the Lodge Room on November 23. Listen to “Dream Cleaver” and peruse their tour dates below.

Death Valley Girls are probably the type of people to insist that it’s never too early to celebrate Halloween. At least, that’s the impression they leave with their new video for “Dream Cleaver.” The song sounds like it could have been a Gary Wright parody (“Dream Weaver,” anyone?), but it is decidedly more punk rock—literally, given its reliance on noisy guitars and affinity for crunchy vocals. This single is hopefully the first of a new slew of music from the group, because even just a year is too long to wait for more from Death Valley Girls.

Grab tickets to see Death Valley Girls at the Constellation Room on November 3 and/or at the Lodge Room on November 23. And don’t forget to follow the band on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook
