Beabadoobee crafts the kind of infectious, guitar-peddling, bedroom pop that taps into the giddy romantic in us all. Her video for new single “She Plays Bass” finds the seafoam-haired Londoner chasing love and an identity crisis—with a bass playing crush and jangle-rock textures swirling at its center.

Glowing and blissfully melancholic, beabadoobee wrestles with her gushing heart and rumbling riffs against the red curtain backdrop of the high-school play variety—tumbling and spinning as the camera veers chaotically to the song’s anxious pleas. Beabadoobee finds a niche in her powerfully punctuated indie-rock creations—Jay Som and Japanese Breakfast come to mind—but like them, it’s the intimate confessionals she weaves into her songs that leave them glistening in such originality.
