Electronic dance queen BIIANCO teamed up with the wild songstress, Cassandra Violet, for a ‘Carol of The Bells’ that should have been our winter theme song all along.
Every December musicians try their hand at a Christmas or holiday covers, and every year, the best ones land on our winter playlists. The two fronting this rendition have secured their spot on ours, personifying 2019 onto the classic aria originally written in 1904 by Peter J. Wilhousky.
“Carol of the Bells has been my favorite Christmas carol for a long time but it always brought out a sense of melancholy in me.” BIIANCO shares. “As a result, I wanted to take it in a radically different direction than people are used to hearing it, and give them a glimpse inside the emotion is has invoked in my over the years.”
Recruiting Cassandra Violet for harmonies and haunting whistles, BIIANCO arranged and produced the track on their own, culminating in a song that glistens like the soundtrack to a chilling horror film.
The two artists debuted the enchanting banger last night at the weekly Desert Nights showcase at the Standard in West Hollywood. Hosted by KCRW’s Valida Carroll, the night consisted of LA’s best performing their favorite holiday hymn in their own style. BIIANCO gracefully stood out as the only one behind an electronic drum pad, twirling her sticks while Cassandra Violet whistled like a flute.
