House of Feelings Shamir

House of Feelings come full circle with new single “Black and Blue” featuring Shamir. The new track features buttery smooth, yet funky instrumentals and powerful lyrics delivered in a delicate falsetto.

The song was written by Shamir as a poem but wasn’t initially put to music. Detailing an electric yet unreliable relationship with a crush, Shamir writes about finally refusing to transfer that energy to his crush and instead, asserts his own importance by breaking away.

Black and Blue’ was a series of lyrics I had written years prior, maybe it was more of a poem, but it fit with the instrumental like a glove, and I’m glad it’s finally getting a purpose because usually lyrics I write without music or a progression normally gets ignored,” said Shamir. “It’s rare I come back to them. This song is specifically about that ridiculous thing a crush might do, where they treat you like the most important person in the world for a moment, then ignore you the next, and this song is just about the process of disengaging and moving on from that person entirely.”

Especially considering that the lyrics were written much earlier than the instrumentals, this song melts together beautifully and washes over its listener with smooth, liquid sound.

The song was also co-written by Dale Eisinger and produced by Eisinger and House of Feelings. Shamir and the usually dance-centric collective worked together previously on House of Feelings 2017 track, “Falling.”

“Black and Blue” will be on House of Feelings off the forthcoming album “No Big Deal.” For more on Shamir, follow his Instagram. You can also keep up with on House of Feelings.
