Holy Wars has released a new single/video titled “Get Mine,” a dizzying combustion of dark sonics and anxious rock that will appear on their upcoming album Eat it up Spit it out. A song penned about the “haves and have nots,” Holy Wars are at their most ecstatic and frenzied as singer Kat Leon roars against the NIN-esque rawness and their now signature industrial production created by Nick Perez. The duo has engineered another grinding anthem that mixes all the best of the innate ferocity that so often runs rampant from their virulent ragers. “Get Mine” satisfyingly bursts with the kinds of emotions — from obsession, revenge, and self-empowerment — that comes with what the band declares as “waiting patiently for your crumb of the pie.”
The music video for the song, directed by Arden Fisher, encapsulates the intensity of those desires in all their frenetic mania. Filmed as if the camera is being held by Leon as she howls along to “Get Mine,” the video cuts back and forth between the singer roaring away as she swings the camera around, to glitchy shots of her head-banging in the dark confines of L.A.’s urban jungle. “Get Mine” is a wild ride that urges a sense of reclamation in the face of being made to feel guilty or ashamed for pointing out disparities — for all intents and purposes, it is a track created to speak volatile truth to power and to take back what’s yours from those who occupy it.
“The fine line of love and hate gets blurry, stalking the thing you desire until it’s yours,” Holy Wars said of the track. “This is ‘Get Mine.’ We all have danced with this idea whether acting on it or not, we’ve felt it and for everyone in the shadows waiting, it’s time to take back what was rightfully ours all along.”
Holy Wars will be on tour supporting Night Club next year with a stop at The Echo in Los Angeles on April 22. Visit Holy Wars’ website, Twitter, and Instagram to stay updated on new releases and tour announcements.
