Lykke Li has announced tour dates with a Los Angeles headline performance at the Theatre at Ace Hotel on Sept. 30. Touring in support of her forthcoming album EYEYE, Lykke Li has shared a haunting new single “No Hotel.” Recorded from within her Los Angeles bedroom, the new single introduces the darkly minimalist production that’s strictly composed for her latest project. Her vocals were recorded on a $70 drum mic lending them a quaking glow and unsurprisingly Lykke’s soul-cracking words have lost no bit of potency.

Aimed at the raw wounds of a heart torn asunder there is no hiding from or diminishing from the pain exposed on “No Hotel.” The single though is just one piece of the cyclical narratives of love and loss that play out on the upcoming album. Something alluded to by its palindromic name: EYEYE. The album will also come with seven different visual loops that — when played together — will reveal the album’s larger story. A preview of the visuals can be seen here.

“We wanted to capture the beauty and grandeur of a three-hour European arthouse movie, while making something native to modern media,” Lykke explained. “The intention is to deliver the full impact of a movie in sixty seconds on a phone screen, which is where most of our emotional experiences happen now anyway.”
