Jacklen Ro share angsty summer jam “Time Bomb” from their upcoming debut album

Just in time for summer indie rock duo Jacklen Ro have released an angsty guitar swooner with their new single “Time Bomb.” Centered around the howling harmonies of Jackie Giroux and Caelen Perkins, the band is gearing up for the release of their debut album this year and is hitting the road along the west coast in anticipation. “Time Bomb,” with its grumbling riffs snd head-banging rigor, the track is powered by the duo’s tracing of an unhealthy relationship sustained by grand passion.

Even as the two list in their dreary but golden croons all the ways in which they’re incompatible and plain not good for one another — the song soars with melancholic romantics. The song’s title and chorus imply there are no delusions about how it all ends either. “Now we’re just a time bomb baby / Since the day we met I’ve been crazy / And I’m trying to pretend I don’t like it,” they wail against the song’s gloomily buoyant textures.

“Time Bomb” follows the release of previous singles “Life With You” and “Oh It’s So Sad,” not to mention the dreamy cover of “Happy Xmas (War Is Over)” they did at the end of the last year. Defying genre pigeonholes, Jacklen Ro focuses on making music that makes the most of their incisive vocals and is sonically restless. And distinctly representative of a younger, LGBTQ generation that is making their voices heard through their art.

“‘Time Bomb’ is a song about a self-destructive relationship that just feels so good. It is knowing that the fiery passion you have with someone is going to end, but not dwelling on that and enjoying it while you got it. It’s about accepting your own flaws and the flaws in others and just riding it all out.”
