It’s going to be a night of body-moving electronica when Jamie xx and Caribou perform at The Hollywood Bowl on Friday, September 30. Tickets are on sale now but you also have a chance to win some via the ticket giveaway that’ll be happening over on Grimy Goods’ Instagram. In addition to the two veteran producers and beat-makers, Indian classical musician and electronic artist Arushi Jain will be opening the night.
Anyone who has seen The xx live knows that Jamie xx is responsible for conjuring up some seriously hypnotic and consuming soundscapes. And when he performs solo it only ups the ante for his sprawling and impossibly kinetic dance tracks. Even six years later his debut album In Colour remains ridiculously pristine — a reliable 40-minutes worth of addictively booming sonics and riveting melodies.
Pair those bass-heavy songs with the stunning acoustics of The Hollywood Bowl and you’ve got the perfect recipe for a night of sensory-overloading music. And make sure you listen to the handful of singles Jamie xx has released including this year’s “LET’S DO IT AGAIN” and “Idontknow.”
Caribou will be hitting the stage just before Jamie xx to prime audiences with his sun-warmed electronic creations. Just like Jamie xx, since the release of his two seminal albums Andorra and Swim, the artist behind the act Dan Snaith has helped alter the view of what it means to be a “producer.” In essence, he is also a singer/songwriter, penning songs and then building intricate and infectious electronica around them. His most recent album Suddenly rides is a sleek reinvention of the more bombastic and traditional dance tracks that he peddled early in his career — though it also came with a stash of remixes, a reminder such producers can twist a track into a variety of different directions with shocking effect.
Grab your tickets for Jamie xx and Caribou at The Hollywood Bowl on Friday, Sep. 30 before they sell out. And make sure you don’t miss our ticket giveaway over on Grimy Goods’ Instagram!
