In a collaboration that sounds like it should’ve happened sooner, Cuco teams up with The Marías on his latest single, “Si Me Voy.” Despite currently being on tour, that hasn’t stopped the LA singer-songwriter from continuing to drop singles after the release of his 2022 album, Fantasy Getaway. Accompanied by an equally breathtaking music video, lead singer María Zardoya and Cuco’s duet drive the track forward, reminiscing of a doomed relationship that parallels their own relationship to time.

“Si Me Voy,” which translates to If I Go in English, is entirely sung in Spanish by Cuco and Zardoya. But even if you don’t understand Spanish, the emotion is there in the way they serenade as the song sprawls inward like a rose. One of the most emotional lyrics on the track comes in the form of the chorus, where Cuco and Zardoya sing, “Y si me voy / Quiero que tu amor esté conmigo hoy.”
Co-produced by John Conway of The Marías, their signature indie sound compliments Cuco’s music so well it’s almost as if they were meant to be fused together. The Latin inflections in the instrumental add to the already dreamy guitars, further proving the track is Cuco stepping into The Marías world.
The visuals themselves are certainly something to commemorate. Directed by Carlos Lopez Estrada and Jeff Desom, the video follows Cuco replaying the memory of a former lover leaving the last of their belongings as time passes by around him. Undeniably somber in its tone, the scene perfectly depicts the song’s evocation of being hung up on the past. And if “Si Me Voy” and Cuco’s previous singles are of any indication, it’s that Cuco is maturing as an artist.
