Discodelic pioneers Say She She has shared plans to release their second album Silver this fall, sweetening the announcement with euphoric new single “Astral Plane.” The trio will also be playing the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on August 6th with Portugal. The Man and Chicano Batman. As the latest preview of the forthcoming double LP their latest checks all the groovy boxes of the Los Angeles outfit’s nostalgia-waxing soul-pop.

Across “Astral Plane” waft the lush and riveting textures that lend all Say She She songs an enchanting melodic luxuriance. From the gyrating orbits of refulgent riffs and funky bass to the dreamy space-age pop that gleams throughout. Like so much of their music, the instrumentals alone are exquisitely buoyant and glittering.
But no Say She She song would be half as entrancing without its trifecta of vocal superstars. The blissful three-part harmonies conjured by Sabrina Cunningham, Nya Gazelle Brown, and Piya Malik transform the song into something truly transcendent. Each sharing a moment to offer up either their stratospheric and incandescent cries or silvery whistles.
“Astral Plane” joins the rest of the songs that Say She She has shared from Silver — leaving fans with an abundance of gilded-disco tunes to indulge in. The album’s deliriously danceable opening track “Reeling” affords another spellbinding glimpse at the resplendent vocal vaults they’re capable of.
Then there’s “C’est Si Bon” which mingles French-English lyricism into this international bass-powered funk. While the ecstatic vintage soul-protest anthem “Norma” coalesces around brassy instrumentals and rhapsodic guitars as the trio draws a line in the sand against the backward encroachment on female reproductive rights: “We will not go back.”
