LA-based singer/producer artist N8NOFACE is nothing short of prolific, with his recently released View From Here EP the start of a jam-packed 2024. On top of an upcoming Valentine’s Day show at Zebulon in LA, N8NOFACE was previously announced as one of the openers for Limp Bizkit on their summer tour, including a San Bernardino date at the Glen Helen Amphitheater on Aug. 24.

Between his first few releases a little over ten years ago to now, there’s never been a shortage of explosive, experimental music. According to his Bandcamp, View From Here is “The first EP of [a] collection of EPs to be released at the end of every month.” Although the promise of new music coming out each month might seem like an impossible task, it’s necessary for N8NOFACE, who views his art as a much-needed catharsis rather than a job.

As soon as N8NOFACE’s brooding voice comes into play on the opener, “Everything Connects To You,” the instrumental gradually evolves over the runtime. At first, matters are kept simple, with the arpeggio and heavy bass leading the charge alongside the vocals. But around the two-minute mark, the song does what could only be described as the auditory equivalent of being sucked into a UFO.

The almost symbiotic relationship between N8NOFACE and the instrumentals off View From Here is likely due to the fact that he co-produced the EP alongside collaborator Chico Mann. The title track is further proof, taking inspiration from 80s alt-rock and weaponizing it into electronic production. N8NOFACE’s gravelly voice pairs well with the lyrics, which detail his travels, something that’s appropriately seen in the candid music video that shows N8NOFACE working on the road.

View From Here, not unlike N8NOFACE’s previous work, prominently features a distinct production style and dynamic vocals that shapeshift when necessary. While many of his songs sound fitting for the dystopian setting of a cyberpunk story, the rawness in his voice serves as a reminder of the human spearheading the forward-thinking music.
