Despite it only being a few months since his last collaborative project, N8NOFACE is back with another, titled “As Of Right Now,” alongside producer/songwriter Chico Mann. The project, which marks his Stones Throw debut and comes ahead of a tour that includes a Los Angeles show, is another collection of seven songs that shows how he pushes himself lyrically and sonically, particularly on the project’s title track.
“The title track is a story about two people on two different paths, crossing paths,” he said. “Thinking how good it could be, but as of now, it’s all wrong.”
Although he’s best known for his high-octane synth-rock born out of controlled chaos, N8NOFACE finds himself looking back on his frantic past. With an instrumental courtesy of Chico Mann, “As Of Right Now” balances between grit and grace over spacey synths that electrify the what-if lyrics.
N8NOFACE’s headspace on the song is best exemplified by the “another time, another place” lyric, a brutal reality punctuated by the punchy digital drums. As the track progresses, he finds himself grappling with the one who got away in a way that’s never too specific yet broad enough to hit hard for any listener through the bouncy electronic production.

There’s a lot to gather about N8NOFACE on As Of Right Now, an album he said was about “love found in the darkest places.” But considering the title track is also the project’s opener, the most apparent fact is that his storytelling is on par with the riot-inducing anthems he’s best known for.
