Having played their last show in Tokyo in September 1996, fans in Los Angeles were ecstatic when they heard the news that Lush was reuniting with East and West Coast tour dates, including performances at Coachella, and an intimate L.A. date at The Roxy. Now the shoegaze pioneers have announced the release of their Blind Spot EP. The new work will be Lush’s first release in 20 years since their single “500 (Shake Baby Shake)”, taken from their last album Lovelife. To celebrate the good news, Lush have shared a video for “Out of Control,” the first track off the new EP.

Lush’s Blind Spot EP is set for release on Friday, April 22nd, 2016 via their own label, Edamame Records. The EP will be available as a limited gatefold edition 10″, a regular 10″, CD and download. The track listing of the four-track EP, recorded in the summer of 2015 with Jim Abbiss (Adele, Kasabian, Arctic Monkeys) and Daniel Hunt (Ladytron) at Abbiss’ own Lime Green Monkeys studio, is as follows:

1. Out Of Control
2. Lost Boy
3. Burnham Beeches
4. Rosebud

In a recent press release talking about the recording of the EP, Miki Berenyi commented:

It was great fun! It’s been a long time since I’ve written Lush lyrics, and I realised early on with this EP that what I wrote about then is not what I feel comfortable writing about now. My perspective, and what is close to my heart, has changed, and I think that’s conveyed in the songs.”[/perfectpullquote]

Bassist Phil King added:

[pullquote align=”full” cite=”” link=”” color=”#FF78FF” class=”firstclass” size=”15″]”I know I’m biased, but I work for a music magazine and so much of the music I hear played in the office sounds non-descript or derivative. Emma has this way of writing unusual chord changes and manages to weave lovely melodies over the top, and it immediately sounds distinctive, like Lush.”[/pullquote]
