The U.K.’s Honeyblood is on their way to the U.S. after announcing their new album, In Plain Sight. In celebration of the release, Honeyblood has announced a Los Angeles performance on April 23 at The Echo!

Honeyblood’s latest singles “Glimmer” and “The Third Degree” present an ambitious and seasoned writer with front-woman Stina Tweeddale. In collaboration with producer John Congleton (Angel Olsen, St Vincent, Sharon Van Etten), Tweeddale is finally grabbing the reins of her artistry in a sharp, individual way.

Honeyblood’s vibe has always been a dark, witchy rock with a blend of storytelling folk, and both songs bleed with characteristic angst. Both tracks bear saucy, bold lyrics and killer guitar lines; fans of the Black Keys and The Killers will dive headfirst into these catchy chord progressions.

Distorted electronic soundscapes underlay an edgy electric guitar, and Stina’s vocals ride the grunge on top. Coated in synths and perfectly dissonant harmonies, both singles have already attracted thousands of streams on Spotify.

“Glimmer” is one of Honeyblood’s most enticing new tracks (which was featured on Grimy Goods’ Best New Songs of the Month). The song  is “about the wonders of women,” shares Tweeddale. “They can be alluring and kind but also strong and badass so you better not double-cross them.”

Honeyblood’s new album In Plain Sight promises to be a collection of songs spanning the band’s wide palette. Some of them sport an edgy bluesy texture with sharp lyrics while others tracks maintain the dark through a folky buoyancy, decorated with shakers and tambourines.

Stina Tweeddale is a storyteller, seamlessly brining her lyrics to life though Honeyblood. It’s clear, and from the success of Honeyblood’s last two singles, this new album is sure to turn heads.

Honeyblood’s new album In Plain Sight is out on May 24 via Marathon Artists.
