L.A. hometown sweethearts Cold War Kids have shared a lyric video for their new single “Who’s Gonna Love Me Now,” the first release from their upcoming new album NEW AGE NORMS 2. The second part of a three-part series of albums that began with NEW AGE NORMS 1, the new album and subsequent new song embody everything that has made the Long Beach-born rock outfit such a compelling listen over the decades.

Lilting piano melodies meet at off-kilter intersections of jagged riffs and raw harmonies, with lead-singer Nathan Willet and Matthew Schwartz (keyboards, backing vocals, guitar, percussion) offering up the very best of their aching croons. Throw in the ever thrilling charm of bassist Matt Maust and guitarist David Quon’s eccentric hammer-ons, which crash and groan against Joe Plummer’s frenzied percussion, and “Who’s Gonna Love Me Now” emerges as another classic amidst Cold War Kids ever-growing, ever immaculate discography.

Willet and company dig at the nerve-endings of every emotion they excise on their songs and the anxious need for escape from a complacent relationship that they dive into on their latest is no different.

“Who’s Gonna Love Me Now” “is about all those times when I imagine what it’d be like to have my freedom,” says Willett. “You’re in a relationship and you got too cozy – you start wondering what it’s like on the other side. But when you actually get it – you crash and burn.”

Cold War Kids have tour dates this month with a stop at The Novo in Los Angeles on February 21. The second part of their three-part album trilogy NEW AGE NORMS 2 is out later this year. Visit their Facebook, and Instagram to stay updated on new releases and tour announcements.
