Teasing a hotly-anticipated debut album for release in 2022, multi-instrumentalist and producer Luna Li has shared new music in the form of “Flower (In Full Bloom)” featuring Serena Isioma. The new song departs from some of the more guitar-driven pop that Li had garnered excitement for with her jams EP last year, but in no way does it lack the singer’s penchant for creating swooning pop amalgamations. But careful listeners might notice some similarities between the new song and at least one of the tracks on jams, as the four-minute single actually started out as a sixty-second piece on the EP.

But now that it’s been expanded, Li admits it’s one of her favorite tracks she’s written — and it’s not hard to hear why. With its soaring melody, carried aloft by the tender swell of strings and Isioma’s clarion vocals, “Flower (In Full Bloom)” is a melodic blooming of lush tones and sublime textures that find rejuvenation in Li’s angelic cries. It’s an uplifting piece that sees Li collaborating with a soon-to-be rockstar like Isioma while continuing to grow her own sound in the process.
“It’s about a relationship where the other person is there for the wrong reasons, to gain power and to use you to their advantage, rather than for love or caring,” Luna Li said of the song. “Serena (whose viral hit song “Sensitive” is now sitting on a whopping 54 million streams) came in and brought the song to a whole new level with their incredible verse and I feel so lucky to have had them sing on it!”
