Mami Sandunga

Mami Sandunga is at the center of another veritable jam with the release of “Dique Hollywood.” Teaming up once more with the Mexico City-born producer Chaboi and Subsuelo’s DJ Ethos, the new track is a funky mash-up of classic West Coast Rap and 90’s Reggaeton. Over concussive beat drops, vinyl scratching, Sandunga’s rapt lyricism that bounces alongside the track’s Dembow rhythms. “Dique Hollywood” is fueled just as much by its relentlessly groovy melody as it is by Sandungas and Chaboi’s delicious bravado and pride over their Latinx roots. And Sandungas love of her Caribbean home in Bayamon, Puerto Rico is self-evident in the track, which without a doubt is built to shake up the city’s dance floors.

The new song is the first from fiery and frequent collaborators Mami Sandunga and Chaboi, who came together last year to create the punchy and biting “Mademoiselle Blonté.” Sandunga, with her love of reggaeton, salsa, merengue, and bachata, remains a seemingly constant voice to appear alongside the impeccably catchy dance tracks artists like Chaboi continue to create. And with Chaboi’s Los Angeles Latin music collective “Late Night Laggers,” who have appeared everywhere from Coachella to Bonnaroo, both continue to bring the addictive and inspiring sounds of Latinx-led dance music to their current homes in Los Angeles.
