Shygirl Drops Naughty Single “Coochie (a bedtime story),” Upcoming Date at Primavera Sound LA

Single Art Work

Experimental pop artist Shygirl drops her latest single, “Coochie (a bedtime story),” a not so subtly naughty tune all about the power of the feminine mystique; i.e. power of the pussy. Playful and explicit, the new single has a bold and very catchy hook, though probably not safe to sing at work. In addition to her new single, Shygirl’s debut album is soon to drop, and she is also slated to play in Los Angeles at Primavera Sound LA’s opening day on Sept. 16.

Laid back and casual, “Coochie (a bedtime story)” is flirty, delightfully salacious and sung in such a sweet, relaxed tone, it takes one a minute to realize Shygirl is singing about finding herself between the thighs of someone special. Uninhibited, the song is filled with bright electro elements knitted together through a pop sound.

Paired with a trippy music video directed by Samuel Ibram, we see Shygirl taking a ride on a seaside train by day and a neon-pink horse-drawn carriage by night, presumably on her way to indulge in her favorite bedtime snack.

“Coochie (a bedtime story)” follows Shygirl’s previously released tunes, “Come For Me,” produced by Arca, and “Firefly.” All three singles are on Shygirl’s upcoming new album, Nymph, out Sept. 30. Shygirl’s new album features an array of collaborators from Arca to Mura Masa, Sega Bodega, Karma Kid, Cosha and more. Fans can pre-order/save the album here.

Even before her debut release, Shygirl has already shown her musical chops collaborating with the likes of FKA twigs on the track “papi bones” and with Mura Masa on his tracks “bbycakes,” “hollaback bitch” and “Cleo.” With an experimental sound, innovative approach to music and bold stage presence, Shygirl is continuing to blaze her own path.
