Jaws of Love. the solo project of Colombian-American recording artist Kelcey Ayer, also the co-lead vocalist of L.A.’s beloved Local Natives, kicked off his October residency a the Silverlake Lounge last Wednesday, Oct. 5 welcomed by loving fans, friends and fam. Whether with his band the Local Natives or as Jaws of Love. it’s always a special treat to see Ayer perform live on stage, especially in such an intimate setting as the good ole indie dive bar staple, the Silverlake Lounge.

Performing new songs from his forthcoming album, including his latest offering (which sounds incredible live, btw) “Second Life,” as well as cuts from his debut album Tasha Sits Close To The Piano — Jaws of Love. filled the room with warmth as fans were enveloped in the sweeping vocals of Ayer. Creating lulling, yet experimental sounds on the synth, Ayers was joined by a live drummer which made his sonic creations fully come to life dazzling all the senses. And let’s not be remiss of Ayer’s charming stage banter. Follow him and Jaws of Love. on Instagram, he especially flows extra special with the banter ahead and after these residency shows.

Opening up for Jaws of Love. was Elke (aka Kayla Graninger), along with Shrimpnose. The Nashville-based model turned singer-songwriter Elke, commanded the stage with gusto, class and charm. Sweeping fans off their feet with her deep vocals and singing songs from her 2021 debut LP No Pain For Us Here, along with her latest single “My Sweetheart — we hope we see more of this shining star in the near future. Keep up with Elke here.

Lofi producer and DJ Shrimpnose got the vibes flowing with his trippy sounds and layered lo-fi beats. It was the perfect way to start the night while sipping on a cocktail. Shrimpnose is the moniker of music artist, Riley Smithson. This was our fist time seeing him perform live and it was easy to see that fans were vibing off those chill waves.

Shrimpnose just released a new track, a remix of “On Planets” lush song “Droves.” Stream the track here. Connect with Shrimpnose here.

Next Jaws of Love. residency is today, Wednesday, Oct. 12 with Trace and and LLIIKKEEAAGGHHOOSSTT. 21 and up! FREE! View all the lineups here.
