Bella Rabbit is back with another bass-thumping banger with the release of her latest single “Malagueña.” It’s only the second single the Mexican artist and Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter has shared this year, the first being electro-pop and reggaeton anthem “Cariño.” On her latest release though Bella Rabbit proves she’s here to completely revamp the varying intersections of Latine music.
The new single shares a name with a traditional flamenco style hailing from Málaga, Spain. And in the same way that “Malagueña” highlights an iconic piece of music and culture, Bella Rabbit creates music for a new generation listening to music across the diaspora of the Latine world. Splitting the difference between funky electronic sonics and combustive beats that’s perfectly minded for a torrid night on the dancefloor.
And it’s that fervid kineticism that permeates the most from the track — from its intoxicating rhythms to Bella Rabbit’s own ardent bars — that’s the beating heart of the music she creates. She captures the heated breathlessness of the dance, of two bodies coming together, from coy sensuality to a passionate aura. And Bella Rabbit uses that to fuel, inspire, and manifest her own version of divine feminine energy.
The music video for “Malagueña” centers around the unabashed expression of that empowerment. And it does so in a visually stunning way as well: across different shots we Bella Rabbit in a variety of striking outfits and scenes that just oscillate with her power. Whether that’s in a leather zip-up pulling chains in front of stacked television sets, spinning upside down in a cool-blue neon futuristic room, or in a chamber lit by blindingly white LEDs with pink lightning-bolt earrings. And all the while Bella Rabbit serves up a detailed lesson on the proper way to get down to her impossibly thrilling beats.
