Important Things To know
Ocean Way Festival will take place entirely on the sand. Unfortunately, there is no ocean access within the festival grounds. So don’t plan on taking a dip in between sets. You’ll be able to cool off with those epic Southern California ocean breezes, and water refill stations will be available on site.
Another bummer, parking is going to be non-existent. LITERALLY! If you thought concerts and music festivals at the Rose Bowl had horrendous getting-there and parking logistics, you’ll be disappointed to hear that there is no Festival Parking for the Ocean Way Festival. “We encourage everyone to utilize public transit, biking, or walking.”

Similar to events at the Rose Bowl grounds, there will be shuttle service for attendees who park at offsite locations.
The festival gates will open at noon each day, with curfew at 11 PM on Saturday the 26th and 10 PM on Sunday the 27th. On the grounds, there will be shaded areas throughout, as well as designated towel zones for attendees to sit and lounge.
There will be no festival viewing from the Pier.
Hotels in Walking Distance
If you don’t live in the area or within a decent driving distance, we highly recommend booking your hotel reservations now. Hotels in a short walking distance that we’ve enjoyed: The Huntely, Shutters On The Beach, and The Viceroy. Both Shutters and Viceroy are just about two blocks from the main entrance. More budget options include the Bayside Hotel, which is just one block away from the main entrance.
There are plenty of hotels and B&Bs within walking distance. Expect a fun 5-15 minute walk along scenic Ocean Ave and/or Palisades Park, depending on which hotel you book. Make the most of it and break up your walk with some food and/or drink stops along the way at one of the many restaurants & bars, or hotels along the way.

A History of Live Music on the Beach in Santa Monica
Concerts on the beach in Santa Monica, and even on the pier, are nothing new. The Santa Monica Pier once hosted its long-running Twilight Concert Series, which began in 1983 as “Save the Pier Week,” and then transformed into the annual Twilight Dance Series and finally the Twilight Concert Series. Featuring free concerts with iconic artists like Patti Smith (2007 & 2009), the community-focused series took a different direction when indie promoter Spaceland Presents co-curated and produced the Twilight Concerts for five consecutive summers, 2013-2017, bringing some of the most iconic acts, as well as buzzworthy indie artists to the stage including: Jimmy Cliff (2013), Charles Bradley (2014), Morris Day & The Time (2015), Protoje and The Indiggnation (2016), and Warpaint (2017).

Also in 2017, Khalid drew in 60,000 fans to the beach. Things changed after that record year, and the series shifted to Twilight on the Pier with major crowd control measures in place.
The area has not seen any live music since 2019. Ocean Way Festival will be its biggest live music event yet.
But the music history goes back even further. Ocean Way Festival itself has music roots in its name. Back in the 70s, music artist and recording engineer Allen Sides transformed a small garage on Ocean Way into a recording studio. The spot became a mecca for music artists. Now, its energy is just steps away from the festival entrance.
