Munan has shared their latest single with the release of “Luv Me.” It’s his third new song of the year following previous offerings like funked-out “Once Upon a Time” and the luxuriantly ambling “Mr. Taxi Driver.” All three tracks serve as a preview of the incoming debut EP from Peter Lee — the South Korean/Australian artist and producer behind the project.

“Luv Me” was co-written with friend and frequent collaborator Sterling Silver, who also worked with Munan on writing prior releases like “Freak Like Me” and “I Don’t.” The result is another romp through the vividly sonorous and enthralling instrumentals that branch within his songs. One that gives a bittersweet voice to the earnestly inflamed desperation that comes with being in love.

“The song was written and produced in a way that as you listen to it, it becomes gradually brighter,” Lee said of the track. “I managed doing this by going from minor to major in the chorus, and I liked how it transitions to a different mood in the chorus with the added synths and the acoustic guitars.”

The song’s buoyant melody is carried breezily by blithe drum and bass exchanges that float weightlessly throughout — most of which were recorded in just one or two takes. While the alluring acoustic guitar that finishes the song was recorded on Munan’s phone.

The raw and borderline nostalgic atmosphere of “Luv Me” is also owed to the fact that he chose to go with the demo records of the track. Which only escalates the crescendoing warmth his dulcet vocals radiate with, pouring themselves over the already grooved-out melody like melted butter.
