Last Friday, Grimy Goods presented a show at the One Eyed Gypsy with two very talented bands: the Deer Tracks (from Sweden) with our L.A. favorites, the Magic Wands. It was an early set time of 7:30pm and 8:30pm, but the music spoke for itself. Despite the discouraging L.A. rush-hour traffic and getting a crowd to downtown L.A. before 10pm, the turnout was great! A lot of people were stoked on the performances and all-around vibes of both the Deer Tracks and Magic Wands.
The Deer Tracks stepped it up a few notches since we last covered their L.A. debut. With a dark stage and brightly lit mic stands, the ambiance was magical; it looked as though front woman, Elin and her bandmate, David had their auras glowing directly in front of the crowd. Bringing out an assortment of instruments to add to their already creative electronic sound, the Deer Tracks impressed both new and old fans with their incredible talent. Elin’s vocals were high and powerful and captivated those around her. Together, Elin and David embodied an enchanting stage presence that triggered the interest of the crowd. All eyes were on the Deer Tracks and their unique performance.
Taking the stage after the Deer Tracks were the Magic Wands. The Wands brought forth their cool and sexy psychedelic indie pop for the crowd to devour. Front-woman Dexy and her bandmate Chris exuded a sense of tranquility although their music spoke otherwise. Full of powerful guitar chords, sexy basslines and throbbing drum bangs, the Magic Wands infected the crowd with their “black magic” as fans began to dance to their hip tunes. Gotta love Dexy’s dreamy voice and the chick on the tambourine; she was going to town on that tambourine and we couldn’t have loved it more.

@Marquis – Yeah! We’ll have to check you guys out sometime. A friend recommended you guys just recently!
Ah, too bad. We did catch the tail end of The Magic Wands. Good band! Kinda like Souxsie & The Banshees without eyeliner & with more tambourine.
@Marquis – No. They weren’t part of our show. Grimy Goods Presents: The Deer Tracks and Magic Wands.
Hobo Jazz went up after these bands, any photos of them?
