San Diego will be the site of yet another new music festival in California when Bleached debuts at the Waterfront Park the first weekend of August this summer. Brought to you by the same people who created the now firmly entrenched CRSSD Festival — FNGRS CRSSD — and indie-pop curator Tight Knit. Offering a decidedly eclectic alternative to the primarily EDM scene that CRSSD has developed into. The lineup includes a variety of genre-spanning standouts and rising stars (as well as a promising number of people of color as headliners): Joji, Leon Bridges, Omar Apollo, PinkPantheress, Channel Tres, Surf Curse, BADBADNOTGOOD, Inner Wave, ALUNA, Blondshell, Binki, Rainsford, and more!

Bleached will go down on Aug. 5-6 at the Waterfront Park in San Diego and is an +18 event. Although the lineup is already stacked, the festival promises even more acts will be announced in the coming months. The primary goal of the festival and the newly formed Tight Knit is to bridge a variety of artists and genres from alternative, indie-pop, and new-age R&B. Its headliners alone reveal a devotion to casting a wide net: from Japanese R&B game-changer Joji to the modern-soul reincarnation of Leon Bridges and the pop amalgamations of indie singer/songwriter Omar Apollo.

What We Love About Bleached
It might be the festival’s first year and as a result hard to gauge what will make Bleached stand out amongst other California music festivals. But given that it’s far from the first festival to take place at the Waterfront Park in the last decade, that alone is enough to give it a premature boost. For those unfamiliar with the space, those who’ve attended CRSSD Festival will be happy to inform you it’s easily one of the more perfect festival grounds ever devised. Situated on a long stretch of grassy paradise that overlooks the harbor, you couldn’t ask for a more picturesque setting amidst an urban backdrop than Waterfront Park. Throw in the fact that it’s also situated right next to both Little Italy and Downtown San Diego, as well as the nearby Amtrak station, and you have got a recipe for picture-perfect logistics for enjoying not just the festival but the city around it as well.
